Responsible care: How we manage antibiotic use in our practice

At Veemarkt Dental Practice, your health comes first. That means we not only care for a healthy mouth, but also for your overall well-being. Recently, there has been an extra focus on responsible antibiotic use in oral health care, and we are happy to cooperate.

A new, national guideline on the use of antibiotics was recently published. This guideline helps us determine even more carefully when prescribing an antibiotic is really necessary. We carefully weigh the benefits of the drug for your recovery against the possible drawbacks, such as side effects and the risk of resistance.

What does this mean for you as a patient?

  • Clear communication: We discuss the pros and cons with you so you understand why we prescribe or do not prescribe an antibiotic. Together, we make the best choice for your health.
  • Focus on effectiveness: The guideline supports us in preventing unnecessary use, while at the same time knowing exactly when an antibiotic is indicated, for example, in an infection or in certain treatments.
  • Greater assurance: You can be confident that our practice follows the latest science to provide you with the best and safest care.

Your health and safety are our priority. By adhering to the latest guidelines, we ensure that you always receive the most responsible care.

Do you have questions about responsible antibiotiocum use, or want to know more about a scheduled treatment? Please do not hesitate to contact us or discuss this with us at your next appointment.

The new guideline was developed by the Guideline Development Committee "Indication of antibiotic use in oral care" led by em. Prof. Dr. F.R. (Fred) Rozema, professor of Oral Medicine(ACTA).
