Emergency: Fallen or Chipped Tooth?

A tooth falling out or chipped can be a bit of a shock. Don't worry, act quickly and calmly. Here's what to do best:

Fallen tooth
Has your entire tooth fallen out? If so, follow these steps:

  • Stay calm.
  • Grasp the tooth by the top (crown) only. Do not touch the root at all.
  • Rinse the tooth briefly (no more than 10 seconds) under cold, running water. Do not scrub and do not use soap.
  • Do not pat the tooth dry.
  • Place the tooth directly back into the cavity. Push it gently.
  • Can't get it back in? Then keep the tooth in a cup of milk or (if you are comfortable) in your mouth, between your cheek and molars.
  • Please contact us immediately. The sooner the tooth is restored, the greater the chance of success.

Chipped tooth
Did a piece of your tooth break off?

  • Stay calm.
  • Keep the broken off piece in a cup of milk or in your mouth.
  • Don't pat it dry.
  • Contact us directly for an appointment.
  • Take the broken off piece to practice.

Stay calm and always contact us immediately with this type of emergency. We will help you as soon as possible.
